Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

UPDATE your calendars to October 30-31, 2021 and plan to attend for a grand celebration of the 250th anniversary of Francis Asbury’s arrival in America. On these dates, in Philadelphia, PA, at Historic St. George’s UMC — the Methodist Society that first welcomed Asbury October 27, 1771 — a Saturday banquet at 1pm and a festive Sunday worship at 10am are planned. The banquet will feature a key note address by Asbury biographer Dr. John Wigger (https://www.umc.org/en/content/methodisms-american-saint-bishop-francis-asbury) along with special music, drama and Asbury artifacts. Both the banquet and Sunday worship will be joined by special guests from The Methodist Church in Britain, members of the UMC Council of Bishops, friends from the African Methodist Episcopal Church and reps from CAHs and Historical Societies from around the Northeast Jurisdiction. Additional events coinciding with Asbury’s departure from Pill, Bristol, UK and weekly events over the period of Asbury’s six week trek to America are planned. More detailed information about registration, banquet, overnight and travel accommodations is forthcoming. FOR NOW, PLEASE SAVE THE DATE and share this message broadly among anyone interested.
