The General Commission does not hold local church records, or detailed information about the annual conference. According to Church policy local church records are maintained by the local church. If the local church ceases to exist, its records are transferred to its annual conference archives.
If you are searching for local church records, your best resource is the annual conference archives. They will have the resources to tell you if the church still exists, if it has merged with another church or if it has ceased to function. The boundaries of the annual conference do not necessarily coincide with state boundaries, and some states may have several conferences within their borders.
Listed below are the names of the states of the U.S. Select the state in which you are interested and a list of archives contacts for that state will display. If more than one exists select the one you believe to represent the area in which you are interested. Whenever possible we have placed e-mail links to assist your search.
